What is a Master Program in Automotive Technology and Management?

It is a two-year postgraduate program that combines automotive engineering with management training. The NAMTECH Master Program in Automotive Technology and Management, offered by NAMTECH (New Age Makers’ Institute of Technology), is a 24-month, full-time residential program of four 16-week semesters, covering vehicle systems, manufacturing, EVs, ADAS, cybersecurity and testing alongside lean, supply chain, project management and leadership. The curriculum was co-designed with the Centre for Advanced Automotive Research (CAAR) at IIT Madras and leading automotive manufacturers. NAMTECH also runs a dedicated Centre of Excellence in Automotive Engineering.

Who should pursue an automotive technology and management program?

It suits engineering graduates, with or without work experience, who want a career in the automotive industry, and working professionals aiming for managerial roles in the sector. It is also designed for engineers from non-automotive backgrounds who want to move into EVs, ADAS, smart manufacturing or other next-generation automotive fields. It is also a strong option for anyone comparing a master’s in automotive engineering in India with programs that add management training.

What are the eligibility criteria for the automotive program at NAMTECH?

Applicants need a B.E./B.Tech from an eligible branch with at least 60% marks in 10th, 12th and graduation, and no active backlogs. A score in CAT, XAT, GMAT, GRE or GATE is preferred. Open school students are not eligible.

Which engineering branches are eligible for the program?

NAMTECH accepts graduates in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, Electrical & Electronics, Industrial, Material Science, Aeronautical, Computer Science, Electronics, Instrumentation & Control, Production, Automobile, Mechatronics and Metallurgy Engineering, as well as Information Technology.

Is an entrance examination score required for admission?

No, it is not mandatory. A score in CAT, XAT, GMAT, GRE or GATE is preferred. Admission is based on your application, academic performance and an interview, after which selected candidates receive a Letter of Intent.

What subjects are covered in automotive technology and management?

The curriculum is broader than a typical automotive engineering course in India. Semester one covers automotive engineering systems, materials and manufacturing, electrical and electronic systems, and fuels and emissions. Semester two covers design for manufacturing and smart automotive manufacturing with a mini factory. Semester three covers hybrid and electric vehicles, NVH, ADAS and autonomous vehicles, cybersecurity and functional safety, testing and certification, and vehicle dynamics. Management and professional-skills courses run throughout.

Does the Program include an internship and capstone project?

Yes. The fourth semester is dedicated to an industry internship or capstone project, and capstone work throughout the program addresses real industry challenges. Students also take part in industry immersion at automotive test agencies and two- and four-wheeler manufacturers and their vendors.

Can engineering graduates without automotive experience apply?

Yes. Automotive experience is not required. NAMTECH says the interdisciplinary curriculum is designed to help engineers from different backgrounds build automotive expertise, and 15 engineering branches, including Computer Science, IT and Electronics, are eligible.

What career opportunities are available after completing the Program?

Graduates can work with two-, three- and four-wheeler OEMs and component manufacturers in roles such as automotive consultant, ADAS and software-defined vehicle expert, emission engineer, end-of-life strategist, and hydrogen and fuel-cell technology specialist. NAMTECH states 100% placement for the program’s foundation batch.

How does the Program combine automotive engineering with management skills?

Each semester pairs technical automotive courses with management and professional-skills courses. Students take lean principles, environment, health, safety and sustainability (EHSS), project and product lifecycle management, and supply chain management, plus communication and leadership, design thinking and entrepreneurship. This prepares graduates for techno-managerial roles that bridge engineering and business decisions.
