NAMTECH Engages with Industry Leaders on the Future of Welding and Manufacturing Education

NAMTECH recently hosted senior leaders from Ratnamani Metals & Tubes, along with representatives from AMNS India, for an industry interaction focused on long-term collaboration. The visit provided an opportunity to discuss NAMTECH’s approach to manufacturing, engineering, and technology education (MET), and how academic capabilities can be better aligned with real industrial challenges.

A major part of the conversation revolved around welding, which plays a critical role across sectors such as energy, pipelines, and heavy engineering. The teams discussed the need to move beyond conventional welding practices towards more reliable, predictable, and performance-assured processes.

The visit also explored the possibility of jointly developing a Centre of Excellence focused on Advanced Welding and Welding 4.0. The proposed centre is envisioned as an industry-facing platform that supports applied research, solution development, and talent enhancement. For students, this collaboration would mean greater exposure to real industry problems, hands-on project work, and improved job readiness, including opportunities through short-term certification programmes aimed at wider participation in MET fields.
