About the Convocation
NAMTECH (New Age Makers’ Institute of Technology) celebrated the first graduation of its International Professional Master’s Program (iPMP) – Smart Manufacturing Class of 2024 on Saturday, 18 January 2025, at the Mahatma Mandir Convention & Exhibition Centre, Gandhinagar. A total of 53 students were awarded Post Graduate Certificates during this landmark event.
NAMTECH, a not-for-profit initiative by ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), empowers young professionals to become ‘Conscious Technologists’ through its Innovation Schools. With high-quality, industry-aligned experiential programs in Manufacturing, Engineering, and Technology (MET), NAMTECH fosters innovation while catalysing socio-economic impact. Its graduates are trained to contribute meaningfully to India’s ‘Make in India’ vision and global manufacturing competitiveness.
Structured into four innovation schools and a Centre for Social Impact—comprising the School of Manufacturing Technologies, School of Manufacturing Design & AI, School of Sustainability, School of Robotics —NAMTECH is mentored by leading global institutions and collaborates closely with industry leaders to deliver world-class education.
Event Highlights
The occasion also featured the first Manufacturing, Engineering, and Technology (MET) Expo, showcasing NAMTECH’s cutting-edge digital and industrial technologies. Attendees experienced demonstrations of futuristic living and learning campus elements, as well as the spatial AI-enabled XR platform, highlighting NAMTECH’s modern approach to pedagogy and Industry 4.0 integration.
Graduation Ceremony
The ceremony was graced by Dr K. Radhakrishnan, Former Chairman of ISRO and architect of India’s Mangalyaan mission, as the Chief Guest. Guests of Honor included Ms Debjani Ghosh, Distinguished Fellow at NITI Aayog and former MD of Intel South Asia, and Dr K.N. Vyas, Distinguished Homi Bhabha Chair Professor, Department of Atomic Energy (DAE).
The procession, led by the Dean, Chief Guest, Guests of Honor, Board Members, senior faculty, and even a robot, marked the ceremonial commencement. Dr Gauri Trivedi, Convocation Chairperson and NAMTECH Board Member, officially declared the convocation open. Shri Arunkumar Pillai, Director General of NAMTECH, delivered the Welcome Address and Institute Report, followed by Dr. Sanjeev Gupta, Dean of Academics, who presented the students. Dr Devang Joshi, Executive Registrar, offered the Vote of Thanks.
The day was filled with emotional moments as students, their families, and the NAMTECH faculty celebrated the tremendous progress made over the past year.
Manufacturing, Engineering & Technology (MET) Expo
NAMTECH’s MET Expo highlighted innovation and excellence in modern manufacturing and engineering education. Attendees explored immersive experiences in Industry 4.0, including robotics, additive manufacturing, and extended reality (XR) applications in education. Student projects were prominently displayed, reflecting NAMTECH’s emphasis on hands-on, industry-aligned learning.
The Expo provided a transformative glimpse into the future of manufacturing and technology, celebrating NAMTECH’s commitment to producing industry-ready professionals equipped with skills in advanced technologies, sustainability, and digital innovation.
Chief Guest

Dr. K Radhakrishnan
Visionary Space Scientist and former Chairman of ISRODr. K. Radhakrishnan, former ISRO Chairman (2009–2014), is a renowned Indian space scientist who spearheaded landmark missions like the Mars Orbiter Mission (Mangalyaan), making India the first nation to reach Mars on its maiden attempt. A graduate in Electrical Engineering and an IIM Bangalore alumnus, he has received the Padma Bhushan for his contributions to space technology. Known for his visionary leadership, he is also a Carnatic vocalist and Kathakali enthusiast, showcasing his diverse talents.

Ms. Debjani Ghosh
Distinguished Fellow, NITI AayogDebjani Ghosh serves as a Distinguished Fellow at NITI Aayog and the Chief Architect of the NITI Frontier Tech Hub—India’s pioneering think tank dedicated to advancing the country’s readiness in frontier technologies for accelerated economic growth and societal development. With a stellar career spanning over 28 years, including pivotal leadership roles at Intel and as the first female President of Nasscom, Debjani has been at the forefront of driving India’s emergence as a global innovation powerhouse.

Dr. K N Vyas
Distinguished Homi Bhabha Chair Professor, Dept. of Atomic Energy Former Chairman, Atomic Energy CommissionDr. K. N. Vyas, an eminent and accomplished nuclear scientist, served as the Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission of India, contributing significantly to the nation’s nuclear energy advancements. He is renowned for his innovative work in reactor physics, thermal hydraulics, and indigenous reactor development. During his dynamic tenure, he championed cutting-edge nuclear technologies for sustainable energy and societal benefits.
