
Dr. Ekta Singla is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar. With a strong foundation in mechanical design & robotics, her research spans modular and reconfigurable robotics, healthcare and exoskeleton systems, and robotic assistance in vertical farming. She holds a PhD in Robotics from IIT Kanpur, where she focused on optimal design and path planning of redundant manipulators for constrained environments. She earned her M.Tech in CAD/CAM and Robotics from Thapar University, securing a gold medal, and her B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from GZS CET Bathinda.
Dr. Singla has over two decades of academic and research experience, including international stints as a postdoctoral fellow at UPMC Paris and visiting professor at SUNY, Stony Brook. She has developed significant industrial collaborations with companies such as Addverb Technologies, HiTech Robotics, and Advance Technologies, supporting research in warehouse automation & wearable exoskeletons.
Recognized for her leadership, surrently serves as Secretary of The Robotics Society, India. Her accolades include national awards, best paper recognitions, & fellowships from DFG Germany, CNRS France, & AICTE India.
Dr. Singla has contributed to numerous book chapters and is co-authoring a book on robotics case studies with CRC Press. She actively mentors students, teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in robotics, design, and manufacturing, and is committed to bridging academic research with real-world applications in robotics and automation for societal impact.
